Galileo – 360 Degrees of Pan and Tilt

I love my new iPhone, I have to say it has brought to a whole new level the amount of time I can waste doing nothing constructive at all. Yes, it can help you be more productive as well, I just haven’t figured out how to use it that way yet. Perhaps I should take a class. I enjoy searching the net looking for new gadgets to use with the iPhone and this one looks interesting.

Motrr, the same folks behind the whole Gorillapad line of camera tripods, is introducing the Galileo, a revolutionary iOS-controlled robotic iPhone platform with “infinite spherical rotation capability”. It works something like this: You swipe your finger across the screen of your iPad, iPhone or other iOS device and the Galileo reacts, moving and orienting your iPhone or iPod Touch in the direction of your choosing.

The developers believe that the applications for their device are pretty far reaching. If you think about it, Galileo could be used anywhere that ease of orientation would be handy, like photography, chats, conferencing or even simple movie viewing. Eventually, Galileo will be made available to developers who can pair it with their own applications, like surveillance or even baby monitors. Capable of infinite 360 degrees pan-and-tilt at speeds up to 200 degrees per second in any direction, paired with the right app, Galileo could be one nifty device.

The Galileo is rechargeable and it also works as a charging station for your iPhone or iPod Touch (when it’s plugged in). Galileo will be about $129.95 or, if you preorder now, around $85 (shipping soon) It is available in white, black, and in a limited edition Kickstarter Green. For more information and Galileo including videos and purchase info, please visit kickstarter.com

    Voice Recording Email Sender

At first you might look at the Voice Recording Email Sender with some skepticism, thinking to yourself, “Well, if I need to send them an e-mail, I’ll just sit down at my computer and type up my message, or, heck, I’ll just text ‘em! If I really need to leave them a voice message, I’ll just pick up my handy-dandy conventional-as-hell cell phone and give ‘em a call!”

However, you’re assuming that in those dire moments when you absolutely need to speak to someone in particular, everything is going to be fine and dandy. You are assuming that you will have your phone on your person and that they have their mobile on their person; you are assuming that it’s charged and ready to go and that the ring volume is set loudly enough to be heard. You are assuming that you will have a computer readily within reach, and that they will have a mobile phone that will be able to respond to your nonsense.
The point is, you assume too much.

With the Voice Recording E-Mail Sender, you can ensure that that monolithically essential message gets relayed. Before you find yourself in a troublesome position, head on over to Computer Gear and purchase your easy-to-use E-Mail Sender at an obnoxiously reasonable price of $39.99!

    Magnetic Elecom Memory Card Reader

Elecom has announced some new gadgets for you to enjoy, one of which is this card reader.  This cute little card reader will allow for you to keep your desk tidy and look great doing it.  As many additions as sometimes get added onto your computer, it’s always nice to find a small USB gadget that doesn’t cause even more clutter within your work area.

This one comes with a magnet on the back so that it can attach to metal objects you might have around.  Such as the side of a computer case, a magnetic dry erase board or even would attach to a mini fridge if you keep one of those underneath your desk.  Plus to top it off this card reader comes in great bright colors that’ll make it stand out from the boring gray and black electronics.  Although you’ll have to decide if the $27 price tag is a bit much for a card reader.

Stylish Bluetooth Headset designed as dogtag

This BlueTrek Levis is a bluetooth headset which looks exactly like a dogtag. It is designed as a necklace, or a "neckset" since you can wear it under the neck.

Featuring a low battery notifier and voice alert, this bluetooth device from Levi's (the jeans manufacturer) provides enough battery power to let you talk 7 hours.

Even if your battery is dead and the gadget is useless, you can still wear it is a nicely designed necklace.

  • Kawaii Bear lets you plug USB gadgets into the wall

This walks a very delicate line between cute and just plain wrong.  Sure, the bear is absolutely adorable, however, the place to plug in the charger seems a bit unfortunate.  It might be better if they chose to plug him in at his mouth or even the center of the bear’s back. Yet for some reason they had to go for the rear, we’ll just think of it as an overly long tale.

This plug makes it possible to plug in all of your devices that usually require a USB port to charge.  There’s no shortage of adapters that make it possible to plug your USB gadgets into the wall, but none do it all the while being a pastel little bear.  It comes in not only the adorable pink, but in white and black as well.  In order to pick up your very own, it’ll cost you 1980 yen or about $9.  Of course it might be difficult since it is a Japanese product.

    Apple Keyboard and iPhone Dock

It is interesting that we did not think about this in the past because this gadget actually makes a lot of sense. We are talking about a keyboard that comes with an integrated iPhone dock. As expected, this has the Apple logo everywhere on it. Now the interesting aspect is that the iPhone will actually work for you in a combination with the keyboard. In the picture above it is turned into a numpad, which does not exist on this keyboard. In the event that you do not need the mobile phone to do that, you can always make it fill with shorcuts for your favorite programs. This is definitely a gadget that would sell well if you have an Apple computer and an iPhone.

Enigma - 192GB USB Flash Drive

The Gresso Enigma USB memory is shaped like a decorative star and it can be worn like a necklace, like so many other storage devices we have seen lately. But Enigma is special - it comes with an amazing 192GB storage capacity.

"ENIGMA is a real breakthrough in the world of USB Flash Drive. This is the first USB Flash Drive with 192 Gb memory. It is due to the outstanding shape of the case which is capable to hold 3 flash cards, each of 64 Gb.
ENIGMA collection is executed of 200-year-old African Blackwood and plenty of fancy diamonds embraced in 18K yellow or white gold."

"The collection includes two lines - Constellation and Labyrinth. Every model is furnished with natural caoutchouc strap, which turns a USB Flash Drive ENIGMA from a high-tech device into a jewellery pendant."
The line of Enigma USB flash drives available through Gresso is a limited edition of 99 pieces. The price is set to 5000 EUR (about $6,400 USD) a pop.

Big Button Controller for your XBox 360

Recently, the demo for the game Scene It! was released on the XBox Live Marketplace. Being the thrifty consumer that I am, I downloaded the free demo so I could try the game before I bought it.

It was a typical, lowest common denominator type of trivia game created to encompass the broadest possible audience. Being a geek who has lots of specialized, obscure trivial knowledge, this frustrated me.

However, if I would have to use Microsoft’s new Big Button Controller to play the game rather than the regular gamepad, I would revolt. Looking like something from Fisher Price rather than Microsoft Game Studios, each controller has a giant color-coded button at the top to correspond to “buzzing in” when you want to answer the question at hand. The four smaller color buttons will correspond to the answer you want to select. It connects wirelessly to your 360 and I’m assuming it runs on AA batteries just like the regular wireless controller.

Lucky for the consumer, these four controllers come bundled with the Scene It! game for $60. No reports whether or not you can buy these controllers separately, but it seems to be an indication of Microsoft’s desire to get a toehold into the “casual gaming” market that Nintendo and the Nintendo Wii have such a huge hold of right now.

Purchase Scene It! with the four Big Button controllers for $59.99 at any online or brick and mortar store that sells games on Thursday November 8th.

  • SNES Style Wii Controler for Retro Gaming Fun

If you spent most of your childhood playing Super Mario World on your Super Nintendo, you may just die from the nostalgia when you lay eyes on this product.

Members of Club Nintendo in Japan will have the opportunity to purchase a SNES style Wii controller in April of 2008. Retro gamers outside of Japan may have the chance to pick one of these controllers up in the import market - and it’ll cost you!
From the Gamebrink site, explaining what Club Nintendo is:
Club Nintendo is an official Nintendo club for Japanese fans. Membership is
given as a type of commodity. Anyone who lives in Japan can eventually receive
membership if the person gathers a certain amount of points which can be gained
by purchasing and registering games published by Nintendo. They often receive
nice and exclusive gifts from Nintendo, such as Wii remotes with television
remote functionality, personalized imprints of their favorite Mii characters
onto their Wii remotes, and exclusive & unreleased games, such as the recent
    Exclamation Warriors.
A Club Nintendo account can be linked to your Wii, and
when Virtual Console games are purchased, they appear on the games registered
list on your Club Nintendo account. You can then fill in a questionnaire for
    additional bonus points.
Personally, I would love to get a classic NES controller for the Wii…as soon as I can find a Wii to buy, that is.
