LG Blade P430 Laptop

Laptops are getting thinner and lighter without having to change their size in terms of viewing displays. This may be an appropriate route for laptops to go since they need to compete in a market now shared with those for tablets and netbooks. And with manufacturers like LG of Korea, laptops get even thinner and lighter with its new Blade P430 laptop.

The new LG Blade P430 Laptop is an ultra-thin notebook that has a depth of 23.8mm and only weighs 1.94kg. It is significantly lighter than the conventional notebooks with 13 inch display screens. This makes the notebook quite handy to bring along and comfortable enough to carry around.

Despite its slimmer profile the LG Blade P430 Laptop features a second generation Intel Core i7 processor. It also comes with a NVIDIA Graphics GeForceGT 520M with 1GB DDR3 RAM. Additionally, the notebook comes with a maximum of 8GB memory, a 1.3 HD webcam, up to 750GB 2.5 SATA HDD, DVD optical drive as well as Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. The new LG Blade P430 Laptop is expected to be available in the market by the end of May. Pricing for this new ultra thin notebook has not yet been provided.

Cisco Cius Tablet PC announced for business users!

Cisco has announced a Tablet PC model of their own aimed at the business customers.

It is based on the Google Android mobile platform and features a eight hours of battery backup.

The company said that they would begin testing this new device with some of their customers later this year.

It is expected to go on sale sometime early next year.

Cisco Cius features a seven inch touchscreen display. It also feature two cameras one of which is capable of recording at HD quality.

8.9-inch ExoPC Slate has iPad looks, netbook internals, Windows 7 soul

Yes, we realize that it's hard to provide too much visual differentiation between tablet PCs with large, ebony bezels, but we can't help but think that this 8.9-inch multitouch tablet looks a lot like another, recently announced 9.7-inch multitouch tablet. Nevertheless this one's quite different on the inside, delivering "the web without compromise," meaning full browser support with flash courtesy of Windows 7 on an Atom N270 at 1.6GHz, with 2GB of DDR2 memory and a 32GB SSD with SD expansion. Yeah, those specs are familiar too, and while we're not thinking this will deliver the sort of snappy performance seen on the iPad, it will certainly be a lot more functional. Battery life is only four hours, but at least it's user-replaceable, and a price of $599 matches the 32GB iPad. Likewise it will be available in March -- or you can get a non-multitouch prototype for $780 right this very moment. If, that is, you speak enough French to manage the order page.

Apple Keyboard and iPhone Dock

It is interesting that we did not think about this in the past because this gadget actually makes a lot of sense. We are talking about a keyboard that comes with an integrated iPhone dock. Fujitsu Unviels Novel Dual Screen LifeBook 7010

Fujitsu announced the LifeBook 7010 this morning. In addition to being a decently powereful, HD ready notebook, it also shakes things up a little with a unique 4 inch touchscreen LCD embedded above the keyboard.

With the 16" 16:9 Fujitsu LifeBook 7010, Fujitsu has done something a little different. Yes, there are plenty of normal features to be happy about. A Blu-ray drive and a 1366x768 HD display. A 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 with 4GB RAM, plus 320GB of hard disk space and a 256MB ATI Radeon HD 3470. Lots of connectivity ports (4USB, FireWire, eSATA, ExpressCard/54, Ethernet VGA and HDMI), and integrated webcam and a nice solid keyboard too. It is a bit heavy at 7.4lbs and the battery life is meager, but already not bad for $1500. Now, onto the touchscreen.

Possibly the most interesting part about it is that it is recognized by Windows as a separate second minitor, meaning it can serve as an extension of your screen and excess windows or even multimedia players playing video can be dragged down there. The standard display features up to 15 quick-launch buttons which you can customize. There are also other features, such as the ability to create a slideshow simply by selecting a source folder. This is considered the first of its kind in a notebook, so props to Fujitsu for innovating (and we aren't even going to talk about the gesture enabled touchpad here). Review of Asus Eee PC 1000HE

Asus started the netbook craze with its tiny, 7-inch Eee PC. Shortly thereafter, every notebook manufacturer except Apple produced at least one tiny and inexpensive laptop just like it. Nowadays, netbooks are not that tiny anymore - little by little they have increased in size from 7" via 9" and now the standard screen size of a netbook is 10 inches. Even a couple of 12-inch models have been released.

Hardware

What they all have in common is the hardware - with a few deviations it consists of an Intel Atom CPU at 1.6GHz, 1GB or RAM, a 160GB hard drive and integrated GMA950 graphics. The Eee PC, however, has been upgraded with an ever so slightly faster 1.66GHz Atom processor and a higher 667MHz FSB speed instead of earlier models which had 533MHz.

The speed increase is not big enough to be noticeable, but you might feel better purchasing an upgraded model. Asus' main selling point with the 1000HE is the battery life. According to the manufacturer, you should be able to keep it alive for 9.5 hours without resorting to an outlet. To achieve this formidable battery life, you need to use aggressive power-saving schemes, no Wi-Fi and turn the brightness all the way down. In our general usage test it still delivered more than 7 hours, which is still more than acceptable.

Design

As far as the design goes, the Eee PC 1000 HE stays with the concept we've seen in previous Eee netbooks. The keyboard is almost full size (92%) and the trackpad buttons are slightly tilted in the front. The entire casing of the netbook is glossy, which enhances the overall look but also attracts fingerprints easily.

On the whole, the design of the 1000HE focuses on usability; it's not spectacularly thin like some of its siblings, such as Asus S101 netbook, but it certainly gets the job done with flying colors. Besides, keeping the design simple also helps keep the price to a minimum, which is often the deciding factor for a netbook buyer.

Connectivity and Features

The ports have been placed on the left- and right-hand sides of the laptop - none at the back. On the right is a memory card reader, 2 USB and VGA and on the left is another USB port, Ethernet, and audio line in/out.

Summary

While there are better looking netbooks on the market, the Eee PC 1000HE comes at a very attractive price point and offers excellent battery life. It's also very easy to use thanks to the large keyboard, and has all the features that the competition offer plus a little extra. Combine these aspects and you have one of the best netbooks currently available.
